 19-20 inch widescreen
I'm looking for an o.k 19-20" wide screen monitor to replace the CRT I'm using as my second. I have a budget of about 300 Canadian, so it can't be something crazy. 8ms is fine, contrast should be higher than 600 if possible.
Any suggestions? even if just a brand.

I suggest dropping a touch more and getting a 22'. They can be found for under $300 USD on Newegg. I grabbed mine there it's a Chimei (they produce the internals for 60%-ish of LCD manufactures).

You can get a fairly decent monitor for 300CAN. I suggest you take a look at the benq 20.1 on Newegg or the Acer 19 inch . both widescreen and provide great images. If you can go on ebay and buy one much cheaper maybe you can get a nice 22 to 24 new.

I would recommend BENQ, but I am not sure what sizes they offer.

BenQ don't make good monitors at all. Just stick with companies that make good monitors in general, like Viewsonic, Samsung and Eizo.

Faint i will have to disagree the BENQ is a great monitor I have used one numerous of times and its better than my fathers new Samsung 20 inch

Blue, I just don't know if the extra inch is worth the extra expense. I'm sort of on a budget crunch right now and splurging for an extra inch might not be in the cards.

I have a BenQ FP202W, I love it. I also have a Phillips 17" as a secondary monitor.
I've used the Acer 23" monitor, and I'd recommend it. It's around $400 though.
Check out <a href="http://www.ncix.com">NCIX.com</a>. They frequently have free shipping deals, and it's usually a flat rate ($10?) anyway. I just drive and pick stuff up. Make sure you goto the sales page (click on the banner at the top of the page) for the best deals. The prices are close to the prices at tigerdirect.ca, for the most part.
