if you wonder why he makes money then I will tell you the secret after 30 seconds of staring (not reading) his blog:
Puddle-of-ads Website + Holier-Than-Thou attitude + hits = Money
Is it good for him? yes. Should anyone give 2 ****s? no. Are there better ways to make money online? yes.

I follow blogs (web design/dev generally), and I've heard John's name mentioned but not really looked into who he is or what he does and certainly haven't following his postings. I've also heard that he's an idiot to be avoided at all costs -- that's for you to decide. What, may I ask, does this topic have to do with freelancing or any other subject to which TalkFreelance devotes it's discussion base? Unless this is just a ****ing contest, John Chow can pee higher up the wall than you can so therefore he must be amazing. Right? Does John freelance?

Hear, hear. You know, I've spent a few hours today informing people of a very deceptive auctioneer running an auction on Sitepoint. He's trying to sell his free upload site, and I've been telling people it's because he uploaded lots of warez and then spammed that around warez forums. That, to me, feels much better than the money I earned today, by a long way.
