  Old  Image Hosting

Hello TF,

Im thinking about starting up my own image hosting site. I have purchased a domain already (imageuploader.org ) I also have found the perfect script which is fairly cheap too.

I am on a tight budget for finding the proper host. I am looking for the price of around 20-30 dollars/mo with the following specs for a VPS account.

15 Gigabyte Space
150 Gigabyte Transfer
128/256MB Dedicated Ram ( I dont really care)

Most sites I have visted charge $40-$50 for this type of account. Now i found something with less specs with the following:

5 Gigabyte Space
50 Gigabyte Transfer
128MB Dedicated Ram

All that for $19.95/mo. Now do you guys think it is a wise investment to get this account, and when I need more space (and hopefully gained some more money) upgrade to the first type of account I listed?

Also if you know any companies which provide what i'm looking for, and is in my budget, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

If your serious about a Image Hosting site you need to put research an invest in it. If you have a user friendly script with a good domain and proper advertising your site will boom. When it does you find yourself using hundreds of GBs of bw a month and a 50GB bw plan wont last you a week. The way most image hosting scripts work is that the picture links are stored in a database. If you go with a smaller plan at first and then get lots of hits you will need to transfer all the images and MYSQL Backups from your small plan to your new host. If your not carefull you can loose user info and images and that wont look good. If your serious about image hosting and you want your bussiness to boom then invest in somthing you can work with for months. You'll need somthing with hundreds of GBS of space and lots of bw.

the bandwidth just depends on how large you allow it to grow. im sure the large image hosting sites use many gigs of transfer per day. if you are serious about it i would look into a dedicated server AT least but recommend an unmetered dedicated.

I find it funny how you are always promoting site5, but continue to make posts like this on WHT

So you continue to advertise the site, even though you have downtime and db errors, that makes sense. No biggie though, just wondering.

Robson, how much space and bandwidth did you use in the month of Aug, maybe we can work something out.
