  Old  What would you do if there were a cure for death?

The year is 3000. Scientists have just developed a cure for cell decay and all the other nuisance's that kill us at old age. So potentially this cure prevents us dying from natural causes.

The world is politically divided into two ideologies;
  • First implies the cure can never be utilized. If it were implemented human reproduction would need to be outlawed as the planet cannot sustain an ever growing population.
  • The second favours a different argument. They suggest the human race need never again know suffering. Enforce the cure upon everyone and spread wealth equally.
You have the tiebreaking vote. Which do you choose and why?

Well, I know if I could live forever I would still not waste any of it on strange and fundamentally pointless general discussion threads.

But seriously, I'd vote for it. I figure war would go on the rise (more people = more conflicts) and keep the population down. People always find new ways to kill more and more of eachother.

I strongly believe that is someone is wise enough to stop cell aging and stuff that goes way beyond my understanding, his/hers brother/sister will find a way to populate outer space and other planets somehow.

Haha, I think Eien hit it right on the spot.

To start, if someone comes up with the cure for death, anyone who voted against it would be crazy. Talk about the ultimate medical breakthrough. It would surely have my vote without question.

As far as overpopulation goes - if in another thousand years humans haven't already figured out to survive on other planets, I'm sure one of his/her relatives will be able to take care of that (lol).

Life is of supreme value, and to make it endless would be the best gift our species ever received. He/she would also probably be the world's first trillionaire.
