I've been learning PHP since I'm 12.
My dad bought me a book and that age and then the all "PHP Love" started.
I started reading books, try and error, etc..
I can say I have at least 4 years with PHP...
Learning PHP ain't hard but you need to be patient, as you won't learn through the night...

Learnt PHP for about a year now, once you learn the basics of the language it's pretty straight forward.
You just have to understand the concept of the idea such as input, output, decision etc then go from there that's what i did.
As for mysql it's not that hard to learn depending how far you want to go with it.

I've been doing php for around two years now. It wasn't too hard to learn, but as Mauro said it does take time. And as DUB said, mysql is quite tricky when you're getting started. I suggest getting a book, because then you don't have to spend all of your time on the computer. I still reference mine from time to time.

I started almost 4 years ago. I learned through a combination of a PHP book and formal education in databases and database theory.

i learned through trial and error
think of something you can make and apply with php
and make it. as you go, learn about what each function does and its purpose.
and keep doing that.
it will take time, dont expect instant results

I've been learning for just under 2 years, I'm no expert but I know quite a bit. It gets really easy as you go on. You should read some tutorials online, you'll probably catch on fast.

I am just starting to learn now after wanting to for several years. I had done some perl scripting but only with flat files (pre mysql days).

Do you ever stop learning? I mean, I've been using PHP / MySQL for about 3 years now, and I still have a ton of learning to do. I don't suppose that I'll ever feel like I've truly mastered it.
