I think I'm probably doing the same course as you next year - BTEC IT-Practitioners (Software Engineering)?. Luckily I've got a good background in programming, and I'm currently doing ASP.NET 2.0 is VB.

VB syntax doesn't have any curly braces and hardly any brackets, it's really easy. It's just stuff on new lines and such. You'll get use to it, and love it, really quickly.
