 External Harddrive - Advice?
I want to buy an external hard drive. Minimum space I'm after is 300gb, however I'd really like 500gb.
I have no idea about external hard drives at all. Could I have a little advice on what to purchase?
I've been looking around, but the only thing that I can compare them by really is their make, price and storage.
Thanks for any advice you may give me.
Edit : My budget is 100 pounds.

I bought one of the WD 500GB MyBooks which was and still is a great piece of kit. However bear in mind that it needs its own power supply so is really best for hooking up to a desktop PC (or mac). I also later got one of the 120GB "Passport" drives, also from WD, for my Macbook Pro because I move around a lot -- it's much smaller in physical size (2.5" drive) and is USB powered, so that is now my portable storage for on-the-go.
Oh and Amazon do a 250GB Passport for £99 if you're needing the portability, otherwise the bigger MyBooks are great value for money for tonnes of storage.

Hmm, yea I'd go for the 3.5" drives. The WD MyBook's are really good value. I'd go for a 3.5" over a 2.5" unless you would be taking your drive around with you alot since the 2.5" are more durable. Though if you have a Macbook, you can easily replace the Primary HD with a new one by unscrewing a single bolt

I saw some cool ones in 'Saturn' in germany, with card reader in it.. Wanted to buy but hadn't enough money with me... It was a very small one, 320Gb/120Gb/500Gb.. lets say it was as big as 2 iPods orso
Gonna look for it here in belgium, but make sure the ne you buy makes enough rpm
