Iframes are not the only way to push a file to the server without resorting to the traditional methods. There are alternatives, but each have their problems (as do iframes) and as far as I see it none are perfect at the moment. Hopefully the situation will improve given time. Using the Flash player for file uploads has been getting a lot of attention, and support, recently for example.
Like I said, I've yet to find an ideal solution but to say that using iframes is the only method was just factually incorrect. Buuuuttt, this isn't the right place for this discussion really.

Nonsense. I coded a marvelous little image uploader for a product management tool I'm building.

And it uses pure AJAX? No ASP.net tools? Just javascript, the form, and the backend? O_o
I'd probably be willing to buy that.

Besides flash uploading, what is there though?
I'm not trying to argue, I'm seriously curious about alternative solutions to iframes and regular form submission.

AJAX, to me anyway, is really more of a methodology than any specific set of tools. I'm using JS and undisplayed flash to handle my files, with a ror backend.
I didn't notice any reference of flash when I posted, so if you mentioned it, I apologize.

I'm usually very good at hand-holding and being helpful but if you can't go out and do your own research, you'll end up making up silly "facts" like "you can only use iframes for this". Please take the time to explore a little; if you have any questions about or more of the different available techniques, then feel free to ask around in the appropriate forum (this not being it). If that sounds harsh, I do apologise in advance.
Could a friendly Moderator perhaps split the posts into another topic in the right place? That'd be lovely since I'm sure localhost isn't too hot on us hijacking his sale topic.
