I built mine a little better than your DJAC but seems to have close spec's.

Take a look at the C2D E6320 or E6420 chips. Same specs as the more expensive chips, just a lower clock speed. So you save a good bit of money, and you can always overclock them a bit and it'll be just like the more expensive chips. However depending on how you do it or how far you go with the overclocking, you run the risk of losing stability.

I'm thinking about either buying me a laptop or this config:
1 x Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2,4GHz, 4MB Cache, Box)
€ 206.00
1 x Antec Sonata 2 + 450Watt
€ 95.00
4 x AIOS 1024MB DDR2 667Mhz (Kingston)
€ 158.00
1 x Seagate 160GB SATAII 8MB
€ 49.50
1 x Asus P5B
€ 97.00
1 x Acer AL2216Wsd
€ 282.00
1 x MSI NX8600GT-T2D256EZ
€ 154.00
Total
€ 1041.50
Considering price differences in the US and here, I'm guessing this should come in around your budget?

Hmm, thats alrite i would make some changes though
Get a slighty higher watt PSU, just for futureproofing
AIOS dont make very good ram , go get some corsair xms2
For the HD, go with a 320gb or if you want 160gb get a samsung.
For GFX card, I wouldn't recommend MSI, try getting the XFX XXX edition of the 8600GT or the ASUS if your on a budget.
Though you've got the idea
Also you don't need as good CPU, do as what James said, get a cheaper one and overclock

If you can afford it, I HIGHLY recommend you upgrade your graphics card to an 8800 GTS unit from EVGA. They go for around $280 around here, and have been noted to be the best value of any Direct x10 card so far.

Yea, your right, the 8800GTS are awesome, and EVGA do a great card. Though i've found the 8800 is cheaper in the states than anywhere else in the world.
Here is Aussie and NZ a 8800GTS 320mb costs twice as much as a 8600GT, but it worth the extra $ as its a good future-proofing GFX card

The motherboard is the most important part of your system. Don't buy cheap with mobo's, get quality.
