Router Question
I had a question about my router, can they go bad? Everyday, my internet goes down, usually like 4-6 times a day, and I need to unplug my router in order for it to go back up, whats causing this?
Currently, Ive got a modem, connected to my router, and my router is directly connected to MY Laptop, then another wire goes from the router to a hub, and the hub to two other PC's in the house, and all PC's get internet down same time I do, my whole internet crashes and we dont know if its because of my modem, or my router, or what...

I've had problems with my router before, usually mine gets too hot. It might also be the type of traffic going through it..when I used to run bittorrent a lot, downloading/uploading a ton of torrents, my network went down about one every few days..and I had to unplug my router and plug it back in.
You could try replacing the router and see if that fixes it.
Check to see if your networked computers can still talk to each other when the internet goes down. If they can, it's probably your modem. If they can't talk, it is probably your router.

Ours stops on us almost every day. It allows some protocols through, but not others for some reason. Rebooting it always works. This is an ISP issue, not a router issue, as I have tried 6 different routers to the same effect.

Rebooting for me doesnt work though, we HAVE to unplug our router in order for the internet to come back up...
And If its the ISP, Why am I the only person in my neighborhood with this problem? especially with COX Internet, rated number 1 in customer satisfaction! (Damn commercials..)

Telecom Julian?
I have noticed a problem similar to this recently with them... at one stage my internet was going off every 5 minutes... I spent roughly 3 hours on the phone with them

This has been happening for about 2 months now, we first thought that it was just the IPS and it would fix, but it hasnt yet.
We have a netgear router, I would age it at... uhh I dont know for sure, 2-5 years old?

My linksys was 5
Anyways, hook your rig straight up to the modem, and see if it happens; if not, its the router.
