I think the problem is alot of contests have gone wrong and alot of the contests that get requested seem fishy at best. I think we need to develop a safer system for contests to get it realy going again but how to do that I have no idea...

Nice idea... although instead of dealing straight with the money...
Perhaps use some sort of a credit system?
Convert money to credits, which you can use all over the forum?
SitePoint converts your money into credits no ?

Don't worry it's been said a hundred times before that TalkFreelance will never turn to a place where you have to pay for any sort of "credits" or anything like that. This isn't DNforums, it's not Sitepoint - Ofcourse that's no disrespect at all to those forums but this is TalkFreelance, we do things our own way here

They seem to be working while too . To be honest, I think a lot of people, including my self see a lot of potential in the contest forum and the way TF runs theres for me is stupid.

I did say "with no disrespect" ofcourse it's working fine for them and I was actually saying that with reference to the people talking about "credit systems" and "forum $'s" that can be used throughout the forum not any contest suggestions - this is something that has been brought up many times before and something that the Admins here have always refused.

Our contest forum once was a very busy and flurishing place - trust me I've won a fair few contests here made many a doller doing so. We need to find a way to breath life back into, maybe instead of just calling it stupid you might want to put forward some ideas to unleash the potential you talk about.

How about actually approving the contests so they can get started? I've got a contest I've tried to start 3 days ago, it's still waiting to be approved. There are also other contests waiting to be started.

I dunno, that's just an idea. :\

I agree with woodiE55!

Bazza instead of telling everyone how the contest forum used to be, you could actually start approving contests and get it started again?

Whats with everybody's attitude lately?

If I saw a contest that completely followed all our rules, seemed trustworthy and was worthwhile then I would approve it. These days everybody wants their contests at SitePoint - there's not a lot I can do about that.
