Smaller Sites back up once a month.
Medium Sites back up once a week.
Larger sites back up like every other day.

Actually, I know someone also created a program to attach your gmail account as a virtual directory on your windows machine

If I'm running a large site I would backup the files everytime they are updated or new ones are added and backup databases 1 or more times a day depending on the actual size and growth rate.

I backup the database driven websites every day or so. Keep them on my HDD. Occasionally I burn them to CD, but not as often as I should. My webhost backs up daily also.

Actually you could create a PHP script that gets all the database information and sends it to your e-mail.

I run all my sites and DBs from a local server at my house. I currently have a nightly backup that runs on my sites and database files.
Now when I use to have my sites and data hosted at a provider. I pulled data backups every other day to once a week and with my sites I had them in version control locally so I did not have a need to backup.

I back up my sites weekly.
Anyone use backup service like bqinternet.com? Because I've been thinking about using their services.
