I been doing Web Design for a while but never created a layout and decided to make a layout for maybe a up and comming project my portfolio.

add some more contract and different ideas besides bevels. Also, change the header, it's awful. Try and make it more artistic and freeflowing.

The header is way to busy fix that. The layout on a whole isn't bad but try and bring more contrast and idea's into your work.

The header doesn't look good, too monotone and boring, and ugly
The colors is o.k, but not more than that. Try to add another color.
The layout is too dark, but thats just my opinion.

I'd just fix the header for now, also try adding more colours into it.

Try adding some yellow, blue, or green even.

Those bullets in the navigation seem a little out of place, and does the text have to be bold?
