Response time helps with games. Contrast ratio helps with what you just listed. You'll see a sharper image and it'll look better if you bumped up your specs. It may be fine for you, but it's not the best

I would take a look at the Dell Wide screen monitors that go up to 1900 * 1200 resolutions.

Dell ftw. Got a 19" a few months back, couldn't be happier with the quality. It owns BenQ, Samsung and LG.

This will be my next purchase. I have only heard amazing reviews of this monitor.
Being into Photography, I need a high quality screen for my processing, and most of my tog friends have this.

That's not actually true. I use a Dell setup (2x20"s and a 30") at the moment, and it's no where near as good as my dual Samsung 24" setup at work. It's a well known fact that excluding the 30" panels by Dell (which samsung actually make for them), Dell buy budget panels from all kinds of people.

Hmm, Maybe I was wrong to generalize, but in the 19" segment, Dell definitely rules the roost. My monitor has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and movies/games etc look much better than the standard 19" model in Samsung/LG.
Maybe it's not true for the bigger screens.

Almost all the 19 in Samsungs and LG's come with 3000:1 ratio which will smoke your Dell's 1000

I've just brought myself a 22" LG, 0.3 - 80 refresh rate, there also loads of contrast changing options and stuff, since buying it - i find it much more easyer to spot any errors when designing, i'd have to say buy LG.
