Old  New Ecommerce software requires Contract/Agreement?

I'm new to talkfreelance.com, this is my first posting. I've found alot of useful information from alot of you, thanks.

I am a freelance designer/developer and i'm currently working on an ecommerce software which i plan to license to my clients (monthly). We're almost ready to roll out the software, but I thought I should check if any contracts or agreements are required.

Do most ecommerce software companies require you to sign a contract/agreement before you chose to use their software? Maybe one that does not leave them responsible if something happens to your site (eg. hacked).

If anyone has any useful knowledge about this area, please let me know.

Your help is greatly appreciated

Randy

You will definately need some form of disclaimer stating that anyone using the available software does so at their own risk etc...

Put the disclaimer into a forms page that clients will have to click "accept" to proceed with the download.

Hey Julian,

Thanks for your reply. Do you know where I could find sample disclaimers?

Well I normally see disclaimers with any software I have installed, maybe have a look at some of them and manipulate them for your own purposes?
