Just heard this news sometime back.
Over $1 billion for it - Woah! That's a lot of money.

They do HELL of a lot more than just register domain names. Also, I severely dislike Bob Parsons.

In addition to registering domain names, GoDaddy.com sells e-commerce, security and other services to people and businesses looking to manage their online presence. The company posted revenue between $750 million and $800 million in 2009, according to people familiar with the matter.

He mentioned that they do more, that that this is even an important detail about the article.

I used to live in a resort town where the norm for house buyers was to put their house on the market at an outrageous-seeming price almost as soon as the closing was complete.
When people started to book walk-throughs and make rumblings about bids in the area of that once-outrageous price, you knew it was time to start thinking about moving.
Could it be that GoDaddy's Master Plan is similar? It's not that unusual--if you're running a serious business you should have a number in your head at which you'd be willing to sell up. This gives you something to work for as you work to build value in your business.

You know, for revenues of $800 million, a billion dollars seems like a good price to sell at. It'll be interesting to see if they're really entertaining offers or are just having fun. Wonder what their Profit line is if revenue is at $800 million, that will be the real meat of the deal.

Not much. Because even if they get custom rates, for every domain they sell they would get $3-4 profit.
So from around $800 million dollar revenue, I think around 20% would be profit and the rest would be expenses.

Godaddy still for sale? This came up and now is slowly fading away. If it sold they are probably working out the numbers now. Taweem.
