  Old  W3C Launches New Site

I visited W3C (The World Wide Web Consortium) website today and was really shocked by the new look of their site.

New look, new content, new way of presenting information.

I must say that it is great and I like it.
It will be even more enjoyable to search for information about web rules, standards and validation now.. =)

Hopefully, thanks to work of this guys, everybody starts using and following standards in near future

..Good work..

What do you think?

I love the design usability - however, I got really frustrated when you see how the left sidebar gradient interacts with the footer gradient, it looks so ugly and jagged!

Old  "Problem" with gradient gradient on new W3C site

hmm. you are a bit right about that gradient
but I think it is not a big deal and I personally did not noticed before

What I think is that people who made design of new W3C site are using screens with high resolution 1600+ in width and therefore gradient in the footer occurs on their screens just as a small (and nice) detail in the middle of footer

Looks much better than their old site.

To be honest, I'm hoping that will increase their popularity a bit! I mean, their old site made them look like a boring old-fashioned organisation, whereas the new design is obviously more modern and more appealing... Maybe it will appeal to more designers?

I like it, clean, fresh, presentable.

But lol @ the google search. Was rather shocked to see that on a site of this standard.

w3schools was changed not so long ago ... Better than it was before then. Looks much better than it did.

It's a great design and no offense to the wonderful W3C staff but it's about time, haha.

w3's design kinda works well for what it has to do, its a little like wikipedia, boring (though with a little spice in this case).

I think though that they should throw a couple of themes out there and allow you to pick between them.

Probably a good example is MSDN's new site (and the several options you get for display).
