Brit faces hacking allegations
A Briton is due in court over allegations he hacked into the US military computer system, causing damage worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Gary McKinnon, 39, faces extradition over claims he accessed 97 government computers. He is contesting the request.
Janet Boston, for the US government, told Bow Street Magistrates Court in central London at a hearing last month: "On one instance, the US Army's military district of Washington network became inoperable."
In all, his actions caused $700,000 (£370,000) worth of damage, the court was told. He was granted conditional bail.

On a few occasions people have hacked into US Military files, I dont understand how the hackers have such extraordinary knowledge of hacking and why are the US Military files so easy to hack, I mean ofcourse they arent easy but they aren't impossible.

Banks suck to. My friend went to jail because he hacked a bank on his free time just to see if he could do it and stole couple thousand out of it. He had to give it back and stuff and went to jail for 1 day witch is actuly nothing for stealing money yet showing that a bank is nothing with internet security.

Hacking the bank to see if he was able to do it, and to prove the bank their network security has leaks is one thing, stealing "a couple thousands" is just plain stupid and retarded. He should have gotten way more than just one day imo.

I believe that this guy didn't do anything too harmfull to these US government/millitary Pc's. If I was the US, I would thank the hacker by showing how unsecure their system is. What would of happened if he was a terrorist. Hopefully this incident has made their pc's more secured.
