Prettttty sure im about to be ripped off..
Well, was currently hired to do work for: www.chavmagnet.com
the person had just set up vbulletin, so it was default style of course.
I did some work, emailed the person and no responses...
Saw the person on MSN this morning, and started chatting.
Sent an uploaded watermarked mockup, and about two minutes after sending it the person signs off (or blocks me)
so I checked the site, and seems as if they stole my gradients from carchops.
Mine:
Theirs:
direct copy.
so yeah lol hopefully I dont see a stolen design up soon

I wouldn't say they're ripping you based of one gradient (it's just a that with white diag. stripes lowopacity), i'd wait for a full design before taking any action

I would already suspect it as dodgey...seeing as your from the US you wouldnt understand, but if the person who "hired" you is in fact a chav, yes, you will get ripped off!

Even if it's a popular style, it is a direct rip..they have just saved and uploaded. Not sure what you can do, I doubt they have the skills to change anything more then the grads..

I take 50% after a small mockup, just to show the person I'm doing the work.
But I did put a watermark on it so maybe they got scared off, that they couldnt steal from me, lol

People just don't learn... NEVER start work before either a contract or a deposit (or even better, both). No mock-ups, no samples, nothing. As I tell my clients, I don't even "put pencil to paper" before a deposit.
Hopefully you learned something from this, even if they don't end up ripping your design.
