  Old  Porfolio link in postbit

Heya =)

As I was browsing talkfreelance today I had a good idea. I always get frustrated when I see someone's work and then have to go to the threads they have posted and try and track down their portfolio or samples of their work. It takes forever. So I thought that it would be a good idea to allow users to add a link to their portfolio below the status bit on the postbit.

I think I have explained that well enough, and I think it would be very convenient for many people.

Let me know what you think. Thanks, Saulie.

Well, there is a homepage field in your profile. I think that should suffice.

There is no guarantee that people would use it for their portfolios though, I mean you can already have a link in your profile and in your signature - is a third opportunity to have a link really needed?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad idea but is it really needed? I'm not so sure.

It wouldnt hurt to have it. and if a mod sees it isnt a portfolio site, then they can edit/remove it in 2 seconds in the admincp

no it wouldnt.
you just make a custom profile field with a 1-line text box.
Then you add the code to the postbit, its very simple

Its a good idea, i believe there is something like it already... I remember either using it or installing it. Its not exactly called Portfolio Link but more of like having a link in your sidebar. Ill try to look for it

Yep that's exactly what I did on one of my old forums, just make a new profile field and add some code to display it in the postbit. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to add an option to enter the link to the name of the porfolio text though.

It would be easy.
have the default text as [*url=#]SiteName[*/url] and they could just fill it in with their own. (I think it should work, not 100% though)
