Trim is an unknown quantity at this point

  Old  Facebook power

I just completed reading this article
http://www.convinceandconvert.com/so...-your-website/
and there is pretty much truth in it. Nowadays web is becoming less and less or maybe more content in fewer places. Boards, websites, blog are becoming parts of "your account". Personally I don`t like facebook, I don`t need profile to post my sweet pictures and see fail comments or play some flash games to compete someone from my friend list by 1 point.

I think facebook is trying to do what google does, but google is more reasonable, they have good idea and good render or at least very good copy of other site service but with better ideas and better outcome .

Long story short, imo it`s bad facebook is for friends, boards is for discussions etc.

Google has already taken over the web. They don't copy anything though.. they see who has the biggest market, buy them out and make it betterl ol

Facebook is trying to make the web smaller. When I was in uni the IT reported the #1 site was facebook, where all your friends are. If you go to a site which has facebook you'll already know your friends and such which just makes the web smaller and safer.

I think the "social web" will eventually die and go more for web applications. Just my 2 cents.

I somehow like facebook and what's it done. Yes, there are privacy issues with it but that can be sorted.
I would'nt want to imagine my life without facebook.

I know I shouldn't get personal here but, to be honest, Facebook has totally ruined my life. Now all my friends hate me because I post a lot of sarcastic comments on their stuff. Haha!

Back on topic: I agree with BlaineSch that Facebook is making the web smaller. I think that it should just be limited to what it's supposed to be.

For all of its problems, Facebook is currently the social media connection everyone recognizes - and the majority use. I only see it continuing to grow.

I've participated in Social websites for a number of years.MySpace used to be the main site for me and I refused to try Facebook. Then (man inspired, of course, lol) I tried Facebook and absolutely loved it.

Growing up I was a PK (preacher's kid) and my Dad started churches. We lived in a number of different places and over the years I learned that I would lose friends constantly and just accepted it. Within two or three weeks of joining Facebook I had a large number of these lost friends back in my life even if it's only a digital connection.

It's enriching for me on a personal level and I recently added a page for Vision Tech Publishing, my freelance publishing company. Just this week I started a Facebook ad campaign (Yes, it works much like Google Adsense). I'm not sure yet how successful the ad will be but the fact that I could set a daily limit made it worth a try.

As far as Facebook making the web smaller, I don't know that I agree. The ability to click through to numerous interesting topics posted by friends has led me to discover sites and articles, blogs, etc that I'd have never read or encountered otherwise.

Just the humble opinion of a newcomer
