640x480 - 1024x768?
I just formatted one of my computers and installed windows xp pro. When I logged it, the screenres is 640x480. I right clicked and went to the settings tab and tried moving the slider to get a bigger res but it wouldn't move. Now I'm stuck with that SMALL screenres and I'm used to 1024x768! Any ideas on how to fix it? =\

Graphics Drivers
Driversguide.com would be the best place to find the right one for your card/onboard graphics

Just run Windows Update, you should do that first after installing XP, most makers have at least almost latest drivers there.
And check that you have your monitor drivers installed if needed.

Download the correct graphics drivers. For example, if you have an ATI card you should recieve the ATI graphics console. From there you are able to change the resolution

You should have gotten a CD with your Graphics Card, make sure to install that CD.

it makes sense that it would do that, 640x480 works on all monitors (even my 1280x1024), but 1024x768 may not work on an older screen
