If I purchase a design, and the person gives me full rights. What would happen if I edited the text "Designed by : PERSON PERSON" to "Designed by : BUYER BUYER"

Would that be illegal? Or is it allowed since you get full rights?

Please post here if you know about it.

It would just be dumb to be taking praise for something you didnt design. Im pretty sure theres nothing illegal about it though.

Definitely would be unethical, but if you have full rights then technically you'd be allowed to change or totally remove it. Why would you want to claim you designed someone else's work?

They could remove the deisnged by and just put copyright "insertname", then that wouldn't be wrong or illegal and no one would get the credit.

If it's Full Rights then it's full rights and they could do that without any problems. A common example of this would be forum theme reseller sites where in the footer they would add the text "Theme by: www.sitename.com" - no problem at all with this.

If you were selling a design and did not want the buyer to be able to do this then you would need to inform them before the sale - might put some people off although if people are just using the design for a person site of theirs they most likely won't care.

Indeed. It's not unethical, it's not illegal, and it's common practice. That is the whole point of hiring someone to design something for you, or buying the rights to something.

I call this selling a full license, or copyright to said work. To purchase a copyright a client pays a large premium.
