Old  1Gb fast enough? Hong Kong launches new Internet connection!

Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN) officially launched its 1 Gbps symmetric service for the residential market. Approximately 800,000 households, out of a total of 2.2 million households in Hong Kong, are wired to receive the service. The 1 Gbps symmetric service is priced at US$215 per month.
Quite unbelivable! I wonder when this sort of connection will be available in the US/UK? Or does anyone know of any providers at the moment? It's not a bad price really, considering the connection speed!

problem is though it would be great with internal websites but unless theyve got the bandwidth out the country to usa etc it would suck. not only that that area have a big national proxy

I'm currently on 4mb Internet and that's fast enough for me! You would probably be able to host your own website with a connection like that

well as said in another thread we arn't too far way from having speeds upto 24mb here in the UK which is pretty extreme. . . 1GB is just insane, you would be able to download a full movie and watch it at the same time and it wouldn't even break a sweat
