  Old  Talkfreelance IRC

Hey,

Before I start -- I searched this forum for any post containing the text IRC. No matches. So I'm fairly confident this hasn't been posted before.

I was looking through the marketplace and thinking about actual auctions. One thing that differs is that buying can be quite slow in the forum marketplace.

What if you'd like to sell/buy something quickly, or be able to ask a question quickly?

That's where an IRC chatroom would come in. We could have one channel for support in the different web languages, one channel for trading/selling/buying, and one channel for general chat.

I really think an IRC chatroom could be very beneficial to talkfreelance. It would be a great way to be able to contact people and make trades fast.

What do you think?

It would take away from the forum, but if you want a webmaster chatroom, go to -removed-, I'm a regular there, along with many other people from here. There are also a few people who don't, but make quite a bit of the web.. anyway.

I'm not sure if it would take a lot away from the forum, as many people (including me) would sometimes prefer the controlled, peaceful environment of the forum marketplace.

Thanks for the link though

Yeah, we discussed it in the past and found that if there is discussion to be done it can be done on the forums and general chit chat is usually taken care of by most members having each other on one of many instant messaging programs.

For further reference do a search in this forum... here are a few from what was discussed about getting an IRC/Chat room:

That's so strange...I searched this forum for the text IRC and nothing came up.

Anyway, sorry for bringing this up again then.

That's fine, IRC didn't actually bring anything up but if you chose a few different keywords it came up (ie. Chat).

Chats on webmaster sites end up being just for advertising.

What the .... are you talking about? I talk there all the time and there is rarely any advertising done. I don't know what kind of channels you've been in, but I hope you stay out of this one.
