Design: possible portfolio
ok, here's the design i'm working on:
http://www.vectorthis.com/images/pro...sonal_home.jpg
this is for the same assignment my last layout was for (if anyone actually remembers) but i want to have it up and running before the deadline and try to look into getting a small end design job or internship and i really didn't think the last design really presented me well for that. i wanted something that was just simple and to the point; who i am, what i can do and some proof.
anyways, dig in. ripping into it can really only help me in the end.

Nice work derek. I especially love the collage of all your poses. The design is simple yet straight to the point which is exactly what you were trying to accomplish. My only criticism is the header seems a little out "misaligned", what I mean is it looks a little odd with the logo centered vertically and the menu on the bottom making the empty space a little weird. Of course it doesnt matter too much, just an idea.

nope, just born there. +)
EDIT: i know, the menu on the botton and the cnetered logo has been an issue in the back of my mind. i've seen the same sort of concept pulled off sucessfully before, but the issue is whether there's too much opens pace with this design.
i'd like to keep the menu neat the bottom like that because of the hover animations. it's somehting 'll have to play with.

- The "profile" font should be more readable, maybe set it to crisp?
- The font for the buttons and "background" should be changed, keep it on the logo.
Otherwise, it look's hot! Maybe you could have some orange in the footer too?
Good luck!

Looks very nice, the contrast between the dark header and white body is very nice. It has a crisp and sharp feel to it if you get what I mean. The logo fits perfectly with the square/rectangle style of the site. The picture thing is a very nice idea, though I think you should leave some spacing between the header and it seems kinda odd to sitting right up close to it.
Overall nice job.
