Looks pretty nice, although you should choose a different color other than green on the orange date box thing. The orange looks nice, just the green doesn't go well with it to me.
I think for the comments button, making the number white instead of green will help. Also, rethink the leaves inside the categories box. might look better without them IN the box, and a few more around it like the rest are (if you know what I mean?).
I like where you are going with this. and it shouldnt be that hard to code either.
At first glance it looks ok. It's obvious to anyone who has used photoshop before that you've just used a few default brushes and added some simple gel effects. I like the style that you have gone for and the "personal blog" bit in the top left corner looks ok but the rest of the site looks very thrown together. I don't like the effects you've used on the links at all and that photoshop brush you've used for the leaves is very annoying.
