Urgent computer help needed – I can’t see my task bar!
OK, I have been pulling my hair out about this for hours now and I just can’t work it out.
I run a 3 monitor setup. 3 screens running simultaneously on the same machine, I’m not sure if this has any relevance to the problem or not but I thought I better mention it just in case. Up until a few hours ago I was running some software called “ultramon”. It basically allows you to use the task bar on all of the screens rather than just the main one.
While using my computer for general tasks… it froze. I restarted it thinking everything would be fine, but it wasn’t. For some reason I can’t get my main task bar to show. (the bar at the bottom of the screen with the START menu on it). When I boot up my computer I can see it for a second, but then it just disappears and for the life of me I can’t get it to display again.
I have uninstalled ultramon thinking that this could be causing it, but that didn’t help at all. I have also tried playing around with the task bar menu in the control panel, still nothing.
If I press the windows key the start menu comes up, but just without the task bar. Its only a small bug but it is VERY annoying. Especially when you are trying to multi task.
I will send $10 over via paypal to anyone who can help me fix this.
Any help is MUCH obliged.
Thanks!
Jon

Try doing ctrl-alt-del, then processes and end process "explorer.exe" then go File>run and type in explorer

is the auto hide function on?
try rebooting into safe mode and see if you can get autohide shut off. Or maybe resize it so its really tall and then reboot and see if it shows up regular, then you can adjust as needed.
My first thought. if I come up with more i'll post

Hey Deay, Thanks for your help!
It flashed up for a second, then disappeared again. Any more ideas?

Try moving your cursor to the bottom of the screen and dragging up/clicking, perhaps it's just minimised (that's if it's not locked).
Try going to control panel > display, where you configure your monitors and making sure you've ticket "display task bar" or something like that.

If this ultramon program has changed a registry setting or something that causes your taskbar to disappear then uninstalling it may not be the wisest move. I suggest reinstalling it, in itself that may fix it. If it doesn't, have a look at their support page and forums..

send me two of the monitors (as I only have 1) and I'll trouble shoot. I'll learn how to fix it and your problem will go away..
Just trying to keep things lite.

do you have any kind of skinning software on it like windowblinds. I know they have an option to hide the taskbar. Maybe that option is ticked somewhere.

try going into your display settings, and reverting it to only using one monitor, it might work from there, if so, try adding the others after that.... It SHOULD jump back to your main monitor once you uncheck the extend windows desktop to this monitor.
