  Old  One "Must Read" Book??

There are lots of smart, ambitious, successful people involved with this site. If you could recommend one "must read" book on freelancing, what would it be? (I want to read it.....!)

I think there comes a point when you need to teach yourself how to search the topic that you're interested in. Sure, it's nice to just ask everyone to give you the answers you need but I think you are old enough to do some research on your own.

Amazon.com will have plenty of recommendations and/or even "People that bought this book also bought..." that will lead you to other great resources.

There's so much info out there, it's overwhelming to sift through it for the "true nuggets" versus the "fool's gold". I'll return the favor sometime..... thanks for your kindness, Dan.

Knowing how to sift through it is necessary, it can be done fairly easily with some practice. Asking every question you think of here really doesn't do you any good at all because it deprives you of the ability to function on your own and it discourages critical thinking.

Don't expect to ever at a point where you have no questions. Part of being experienced is knowing how to figure out things you don't know. In my programming I come across things a few times a day that I don't know the answer to, I generally have to ask someone four or five times a year.

Libby was merely asking what some of us have read and suggest, no need to be such smart asses.

There are a few I would suggest, if you google them it should be a easy find "How to be a Rockstar Freelancer" and "My so-called Freelance Life" they are good reads.

Yipes, I saw nothing wrong with her question whatsoever!! The smart ass responses here weren't words of wisdom - they were in fact nothing but dribble themselves. Get over yourselves.
@ Libby - while not industry related, Raving Fans is an excellent book. One company in town made it mandatory reading, from sales to tech support.

Thanks a million! I see that Ken Blanchard is one of the authors. I am familiar with some of his other work through my past HR studies and process improvement work. I always liked his situational leadership model. Can't wait to read this one.

I have not read it, and I had not heard of it---thank you! On the surface, it appears to be a real gem. I see that the principles espoused apply to both the "web world" and to freelancing in general. Any particular section you found most helpful to you?
