Finding Investors

Anyone owning a web business have success locating an investor? Other than friends and family?

I know that the .com boom and bust caused many avenues to dry up, but is there anyone out there that still invests in a new .com idea?

I have been seeking an investor for $4000 and have had a couple nibbles, but no bites. I just need more advertising and need to do a campain.

I have even offered as much as 30% of the profits from the site (which is actually going good).

Anyone else had good or bad experiences with trying to find an investor?

I was offering 30% of the profits from my web service in return for $4000 USD.

There are close to 250,000 possible clients (members) of the web site in each of the targeted countries and I looking to capture 10,000 users which will yield a monthly profit of $199,500 USD. Anything after that is just gravy.

The return to the investor is 30% of the profits monthly.

Doing the research on a majority of the major competitors points to the fact that my service is priced much better, offers many of the same tools, and is far less complicated that others such as Kodak's Real Time Proof.

The tarket market is freelancers and smaller design companies of all kinds:
Graphic design
Printing
Commercial Signs
Silk Screening
Embroidery
Multimedia (audio & video)

I have over 15,000 possibilies alone in Michigan.

You might want to look into vcs or something or you could simply get a loan from your bank...I know here they even give grants to new business ideas

Yeah, but banks are kinda nervous about loans...

As of now the site is producing about $500 per month profit with no advertising except forum posts and script listing sites like hotscripts.com

Maybe I should move to the UK. A good majority of my members are there. Or maybe I can find a partner there that can get the loan and we'll split the site 60/40..

You need to have it all written out finely--including what you are currently making--as well as information and proof that you are growing and receiving such increasingly. IF you are in the USA, you should have no problem getting $4,000 out of a bank loan. I suggest using a CU over a Bank however if you haven't Incorperated fully.

I actually have an investors page that offers the current profits of the site
(memberships - costs) that updates every 15 seconds. It is hidden in the site and offered to real potential investors to view and keep updated.

I dont think I will pursue the bank issue.

From my experience, Investors can come back and want more profit than is required. However using a CU or bank to fund the base prices, since it is so low as $4,000, it would be in your best interest to use them.
