MCAD or something else?
Im really really trying to figure out which college I want to go to. Ive considered MCAD(Minneapolis College of Art and Design). Its only 15 miles away, too.Im thinking about majoring in advertising or graphic design. Its a 4yr private school and is about $27,000 a year. What would make it better than another $10,000 school? Does it really matter WHERE you get your degree? Id like to work for a company, not freelance. If anybody knows anything about that I hope you can tell me.

A degree from a high quality school is better then a degree from a not as prestigious school.

But how much does it matter since were talking about art? Yeah Harvard would be better than a state college, but art is different in a way. If somebody thought I had really great work, then the college wouldnt matter too much would it?

Yes, if you and some other guy where apply for a position at a job, you both got the same grades. Which do you think they would look at first, the one who managed to get into the presitigous college or the one who went to any old college to study art.

Yeah but I hear "Its more about the art produced than where the degrees from". Thats what im trying to get at. Not the fact that 1 school is more than another. Maybe im just making it harder than I should.

Ask yourself, is it worth it to have a degree from a prestigious school when you might land in the same job anyway and be tens of thousands of dollars into debt? It's up to you to decide whether financial freedom or a slightly better education is worth more.

Yeah I think im just going to stick to a cheaper school.
