Importing a MySQL File through PHPMyAdmin
I'm trying to import a .sql file through PHPMyAdmin but I keep on getting this error message:
#1044 - Access denied for user 'footdinf'@'localhost' to database 'footballmad'
|
And it is seriously annoying me, could anyone help me here?

What better way than asking your host?

You'll either need to change the .sql file and change the username/password to one that exists or create a new user with that username in cPanel (or your web host's website management application). I could help out if you like, over MSN.
Edit: Misread your post. Still, I could help over MSN.

It sounds like your database user doesn't have permissions to import data from a file into the database. There's a pretty easy way around that though - .sql files are plain text, so you could open it up in notepad. All you'd have to do is click on the SQL tab in PHPMyAdmin and copy the contents of the .sql file into the text field you see there and click Go.

i agree with jono1 and salathe, try running "FLUSH PRIVILEGES;" this will basically refresh all permissions. I would allow full access to the particular account (temporarily). run "GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname.* TO user@host;"
unquoted ofcourse let us know how it goes...!

If he's running on a webhost then he likely doesn't have the permissions to the GRANT command. For that you'd have to ask the admin. Speaking of, I just realised an easier way of doing this - you could just email your host's support and ask them to import it for you. The process is dead easy - takes about 30sec. I know this because I perform several a day at the webhost I work at .
