The symtoms are as if you've got a colspan wrong somewhere, or an extra empty table cell or something like that. Tables are too much of a pain to look at.

Tom try using tabless coding? If you don't know how there is a good tutorial over at http://www.pixel2life.com/twodded/t_...idated_layout/

And tablesscoding works in every browser

(assumes he uses Subdreamer)

Recoding a whole content management system into a tableless xhtml compliant site would be one hell of a task...

Not only would you have to recode the main site, but all the addons/plugins as well.

No it doesn't. Proper table coding does.

Maybe it would work if you put the whole thing in a main table with a set width and just used percentages for the rest.

thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it. I will be looking through the coding today some more for the colspans etc that jjmac suggested. Also, I know its a table based design :-/ and im not happy about it - but this project has to be done quite quickly and this is the best I can do atm.

NavySeal, nice to see you on here :-P thanks for your input I appreciate it. I'll see ya around

itmpls, yes - i do use subdreamer, the main site is a modified verson of the default 'advanced' template, eventually i'll get around to recoding everything to make it look like a more suitable school website.

Once again, thanks for all your help i appreciate it.
