Old  How can a freelancer on his own offer support when he's not available?

As a one man band, I'm just starting the process of going part-time in my current full time job, so that I'm able to build and market websites, and I'm finalising my first proper contract with an organisation.

They have asked me to make clear what will happen if I'm temporarily or permanently unavailable as far as support and maintenance on the website is concerned.

I'm a bit stuck on what to do if they come across a hosting related error or problem with the website. If I can't be contacted and I'm a one man band what do I do? What do others do in this situation?

Would you outsource support? I'm struggling to find anyone in my network who could help me out. Are there people on line who I could use as a fall back?

You could try hiring individuals on a contract or after-hours basis. Use friends?

I would outsource support, but only if the providers are reputable.

In regards to your contract, maybe you can put in clause for a certain time period in which you must contact by? For instance, some designers have a 12 hour reply-back time.

What type of support do you refer to? Telephone based product support? Bug fixing support? We need to know more information on this before we can further assist you.
