Unmetered/Unlimited traffic/space is usually fake. It can't be unmetered because it takes up system resources and you can't have unlimited space on a physical hard drive.

I believe some of the younger users need to illustrate more self control.

Unmetered is perfectly legit--it just means watch programs and limits arent set into place.

Nothing funny about unmetered. Many hosts provide unmetered dedicated solutions including my own host of choice, ev1: http://www.ev1servers.net/hosting/unmetered.asp and most larger companies wouldn't have it any other way.

It would be pretty simple for someone to get themselves one of these packages then re-sell space with unlimited traffic.

That particular site says "unlimited web traffic" which simply isn't possible. Unmetered simply means they don't watch what you use...but your find in their tos that they will pull your site if it becomes a problem to the server.

As for the hosting site, personally I wouldn't signup with such a company based on their look and the whole "unlimited" deal. Glad they have served you well though!

"unlimited" has a number. technically a datacenter has say, 300tb of bandwith per month from their isp. say your server alone is using 4/tb a month, they wont mind. but if it uses alot more than that they will start to mind. and they can make out that your breaking the tos. Normally with "unlimited resellers" it has something in the tos about using too much bandwith or disk space. So they cover themselves if you start using 100gb of disk space.

Just watch yourselves with unlimiteds.

Naw they have said to me as long as it's standard web traffic (not huge file serving / ftp leeching) that it doesn't matter how much my site uses.. If it's standard web traffic they don't bother... For space they meant that I have as much as my site needs for the price.. If I run out they bump me up free of charge... Their site is under redesign but they have been around a long time.

I saw a press release last week about a invesment boost for them some time in Dec

well in that case it should be meant for just standard site with the decent traffic which they doesn't really need to take notice of the traffic usage
