Google uses databases, it has petabytes of information in them. Its spiders go around the web, collect data and store it. Their exact methods are a business secret and are incredibly complex. Go for something smaller, this is equivalent to an aerospace engineering student wanting to build a smaller version of the international space station. There would be a chance if you already knew how to write web crawlers and such but if you have to ask at this basic of a level this project is beyond you.
