For the most part this is pro bono work (I.e free). There's no way of knowing at this point whether your designs would indeed sell. Therefore coding work is being done for you for free. The only way forward is for you to sell your designs first then tack on the option of having the design coded and go from there.

Just to say - if he pays a fair price initially on the first 1 or 2 then recoups that before the coder got anything from Themeforest, that'd work as well and stop a coder worrying about whether they'd get paid.
Would be interested myself but don't code for Wordpress unfortunately.
