Wasn't sure where to place this topic, either in web design resources, or the photography area But 3D can be used for anything, but I've been using it lately in a lot of photographs so I've thoughtfully placed it in this category.

Anyways, Blender is the open source software for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback. Available for all major operating systems under the GNU Public License.

My friend is using it for his coursework at A Level to help him understand the concept of art and physical structure of animals and I must say I'm impressed with how easy he's picked it up, it's very easy to use and is very powerful.
