Haha, yeah I saw that yesterday. In my opinion though, it's nothing like Facebook other than the 'Status Updates' which is called a 'Stream' on Google+. The programming is phenomenal (especially the pure-code animations) and the UI is fantastic.
I don't see it being a Facebook replacement when you start considering all the customizing Facebook has and its applications. Google+ doesn't have any of that...yet. I would really like to see at least an option to customize the CSS of your Google+ page.
Also, I don't really agree with the invite system for this particular project. The purpose of Google making this a public beta is for us to test and play with, but it's kind of pointless when the majority of people using it have absolutely no friends to test it with.
