In my opinion it shouldn't. Using a paid script doesn't guarantee success or failure, so I'd be more concerned about the marketing aspects of the site and the income associated with that, than a script that someone else could use.

Yes, there is always the possibility that someone could take the same script and create a clone of your site - but that's why my primary interest would lie in the marketing methods, so I could estimate the longevity of the site and its revenue.
