Tom, it's wonderful to see your interest in this and a great first submission. My only issue with your image is the lack of a capitalised letter S in JavaScript, other than that it's lovely. And yes, I love JavaScript as well.


I would like to remind everyone however that I'd like to go broad-ranging in the styles of designs used. If you'd see it on a 'normal' desktop wallpaper, then chances are it'd also work in this format. I particularly like tactile images; photographs work great in this context, so do character illustrations over plain backgrounds. For inspiration, just browse around any large online art gallery (DeviantArt, InterfaceLIFT, etc) or get inspired by colours, textures, items around you.

Just for some visual cues (but really, just go wild with ideas) here's a sample of what I like:
