However
google wave is a bit larger than the normal social networks. The wikipedia page of google wave says:
It is a web-based service, computing platform, and communications protocol designed to merge e-mail, instant messaging, wikis, and social networking.[3] It has a strong collaborative and real-time[4] focus supported by extensions that can provide, for example, robust spelling/grammar checking, automated translation between 40 languages,[2] and numerous other extensions.[

But it would be interesting to see how will Google Wave manage to break-even when:
- it will be facing some tough competition from Facebook and other social networks
- even facebook has not been able to generate much income from its highly popular application
