I know this is one of those "older" topics that were mentioned in this thread, but...

Regarding the phone spam, I run an active vb forum as well, and we get a lot of it.

I found a good mod a vbulletin.org that stops it from making it to the public forum.

You can set it so that the posts get auto-moderated by keyword (like nokia) for people with x amount of posts or less.

That way trusted active members who see the phone spam before moderators can do a quick delete and ban of the offended. It will also help moderators clean up the stuff quicker.
