Not really, they would not work in Open-Source if they did not feel that nobody should control anything, the very basis of Open-Source is so that nobody controls anything; any hooch drinking rat infested Linux-Folk will tell you this. You can benefit mankind just as well making proper software, you don't have to charge for proper software. It can still be free. Of course if they do want to be developers, don't have much talent (cannot think of something to produce themselves) and cannot get a job on a proper software company who would tell them what to do so they don't have to think of ideas at all; then they have to work on Open Source or not be a Developer.
