I just started using NextGen gallery plugin with WordPress and you can use Lightbox for the effects.

I'm new to it so I can't say "yeah I love it" but so far it's pretty good. You can have multiple albums and list them on seperate pages or all together.

Biggest gotcha is that albums are called galleries and galleries are called albums... wtf?!? haha, once I got that, I'm good.
