Yes it does affect Google's ability to spider your site, but if you do a search on SitePoint.com for "search friendly URL" you should find a great article on what you can do to fix it.

EDIT: Actually, as far as I know, it doesn't break on question marks and equals signs... but some older search engines do. And besides, it's looks a lot better to have a clean URL so it's worth doing anyway.
