Design is very nice, but for a CD store I think you have gone a little to far (unless this is what they told you to make). Maybe tone it down, and focus more on what they are selling.

1. Do you guys think i have what it takes to do well? (just designing that is..)

From what I see, Yes. Love the design, would make a really cool portfolio.

2. Is there anyone that makes 10,000 - 15,000 dollars a year just doing freelance stuff. Im thinking of taking another job that pays about 10,000 dollars less than this one and trying to find ways to make money.

Yes, Getting your name out their will be the hard part, but once people get to know you and know your work. Im sure you will have plenty of offers.

3.Do most freelancers just bid on sites and what are the best places to find jobs?

Yes and No. There are a number of things you can do. Look around sites like (tf) or Sitepoint, getafreelancer, and place your bid on a project. You can also look around, place ads in your local business. My College also has a department to help freelance artists find work as well.
