How BitCoin is still legal is completely beyond me. As Village Genius says it almost definitely funds illegal activity. Creating an unregulated currency should be illegal. It has some interesting applications at a local level but the few examples of faux-currencies with global trade networks show that it is an incredibly dangerous idea.

The service you link to is making the best of a bad thing but even that seems shady.
