Dreamweaver does NOT produce standard compliant tableless code. If you are using the feature where it's basically an HTML editor instead of a WYSIWYG then my thoughts are ok well I can do the same thing with Notepad or any other free text editor. Sure there is color but so does Notepad 2 and a lot of other editors that are...free. The only feature I see that can speed of the process is where you start typing the code and a dropdown of choices comes up but to me it saves maybe 1/1000000 of a second which I can save by opening the Notepad application instead of loading all of dreamweaver for a few changes in code.
So with that said I hand code in Notepad 2 for a few reasons..
-I have control over the code (why I dont use WYSIWYG)
-It's free (why I don't use Dreamweaver, Go Live, etc..)
-Way faster loading (again why I don't use Dreamweaver, Go Live, etc..)
