They were made by http://www.4design.tv - there's actually quite a few of them. Ones most people probably haven't even seen before.

Like Salathe said they are old, they are from when this place first really got going.

As for the design team and image uploading. The design team never really worked out in the way it was supposed to so was scraped and the image uploader stopped working and then just disappeared
